Thanks for the visit of some of the RAT Members. It was nice to meet you in real, also e.g. Jasper came to a time all i wanted was a bed and some minuts sleep
I hope next time we will have more time to talk together.

I am very happy you all had a great time there!!! I hope you liked our displays (Gemina with Ermine street guard)....

cannot wait to see the Photos Jasper, i didnt bring a camera this time.....

strange but funny thing being out of condition....

when i woke up this morning and stepped out of bed both my legs locked stiff in muscle cramp ans i fell over...

not having worn the Segmentata and caligae and scutum for a long time, and also the two displays every day including the pompa (silly march those germans seem to love) reeked haoc on my muscles and feet.....

it is weird, having good-fitting caligae, and very good soles, you start feeling your bones aching...... I think the more i would wear my armor, the more used id get to it.......

at the moment i can walk again, but feel it all over.........

I had a great time.....!!!

I had a lot of fun at the event. The people from Römercohorte Opladen were very hospitable. It was great to be able to march alongside dozens and dozens of other soldiers.

The pompa was hell indeed It always started right after one of our drill displays so we had to do it without any rest in between. My feet, shoulders and scutum hand still hurt a bit but it was amazing.

I'll never forget the optio shouting: "And know I want to see nothing but happy faces!" when we were about to enter the arena. :lol:

I think I saw Jasper on Saturday but I was not very awake and didn't realize who he was until he had left. :roll: Very sorry Jasper!

Met some other nice RAT members though.

Hi guys,
Christy and me really enjoyed visiting Xanten on both days as well! It was fun meeting some of the RATers on hand and promoting the magazine on Sunday. I tried to look in at the Opladen group to see if you were there Jef, but it's always hard to recognize someone wearing their helmet! Besides, you guys seemed to be doing a show every time I passed by. But it was great to meet all the others. Really, next time we ought to try and plan time and place to meet up.

Hah! I can answer that. We were in Heemskerk, entertaining local Frisian wasps.

Officially, we were representing the Imperium among the tributary Frisians, which was pretty hard considering we were the only Romans and outnumbered by barbarians, both ancient and modern...

Seriously, Heemskerk was fun, but I would have loved being in Xanten...

Ah well, in two years...

The squamata isn't already finished, i'm not satisfied with the length at the chest and on the shoulders i tried to change the direction, which didn't worked well, so i'll have to do something on it at the end of the saisson.

The white and red shield painting will be the new one of our LEG I Flavia Minervia, instead of the read with golden wings. I'm glad it was to your pleasure

I guess, the Flavii will not be in Fechten, cause i guess the Gemina will be there and we don't want to disturb them.
