Quote:what are the Supplies i need and the Dimensions for the wood?
Most reenactment groups copy the dimensions of the scutum from Dura Europos (from the Simon James book):
Height: 1.06m
width around the curve: 0.86m
chord: 0.66m
thickness: 5-6mm

The usual modern method of construction involves gluing together two layers of 1/8 inch birch plywood on a wooden form. See the legio XX handbook for descriptions of presses.

It's been over 20 years since I took Trig and 15 since Calculus. Can radius be calculated by knowing length of chord and the length of the segment of circumference? I'm going to make a Scutum press using these dimensions.
