New Gladius Hispaniensis with scabbard - Opinions ?
#16
Hm, maybe it´s a Fulham-type :?:
I think it looks good, but without a view on the blade or from which original it was copied, i wouldn´t buy it. here in Germany we say "Mann kauft keine Katze im Sack" roughly translated "You shouldn´t buy a cat in a bag", and whitout any more information, it´s a cat in a bag, sorry.

They need to show the blade. Can't make any comment until that's seen.

I sent a note to the company and they will be posting an additional five pictures shortly as well as e-mailing me some. Once I get them, I will attempt to post them here so we can all have a look.

Ho ho....yes, its a pity, I was looking forward to his work.
Guess I'll need to find someone else who knows what they're doing...Without having to risk sending them all over the world.

Think I found a website that also shows pictures of the blade. At least it seems to be the same sword:

Darn it,
was looking so promising and then to see the blade with the two fuller grooves.

Oh well

Shoot.

This time the scabbard is the more decent part Sad

Indeed the sword is a bit of a disappointment compared to the scabbard.

Yes, I wonder if it's worth pointing out the flaws to the makers. They may be still be in the finishing stages of completing these new blades. Idea :|

Thanks for finding the photos, Jvrjenivs.

Yeah, I was just searching for a cheap (accurate and no Deepeeka) Mainz or Fullham pattern blade to use in one of my projects (together with the Velsen sword guard parts Christian got made) and came along that website and remembered this one discussed on here.

If you're still searching for a cheap, somewhat accurate Mainz you may want to check this site if you haven't done so yet :

At this point, I think the Deepeeka Delos gladius is a better option than the Age of Chivalry blade. The best non-custom option, I think, is Armillum's hispaniensis - a 64 cm blade with a decent pommel and scabbard.

Thanks Theo,

I've one of Deepeeka Delos already, and found it rather heave. I was more searching for something like the Find-it Fullham blade. But the shipping costs from the US are pretty high these dates, so I would prefer mainland Europe, as I don't have that much money at the moment. Ideally Armillum should also add a lose Mainz/Fullham balde, just as they just did with a Pompeii pattern one.
