Have you thougth in do a similar "tuning" on a deepeeka gallic F?. I think there is one exemplar with coral rosettes, too...

The stones are glued into the brass cup after riveting.

The cup will become flatter when it is riveted to the helmet.

I have since up-graded this helmet (last night actually!) by adding a beautifully made hand-repousséd brow band made by Brian Stobbs. I'll post a photo... It looks 'complete' now!

I have also been playing around with a Deepeeka Besançon I-G-F and have completed the cheek guards in the same manner, with inlays. I have a brow band (Also made by Brian) in silver which I will use on this one.

Hi Adrian,

It really does enhance the looks of the standard Imp. Gallic G helmet. To top it off though I think you should eliminate the 3 clips and rivets that secure the neckplate rim as per the original. This will hold well all by itself and the holes can easily be filled in with an iron rivet sanded flat.

Paul. I can see your point of view on the neck edging by removing the 3 brackets and also how you mention steel rivets to fill the holes, what one has to remember however ( and i'm sure Adrian will be aware of ) is that when the outer surface is countersunk to take countersink rivets.
The countersink on the outer surface of the neck guard has not got to go in too deep ie the countersink head of the rivet has to sit proud so that when cleaned down no lines can be seen.
Then there is the other way of cheating with the brass edging where one can drill 3 times 2mm holes thro' this countersink and fill these with 2mm rivets that can also be hidden.
