Real Life Military Experience
#46
Quote:Sometimes I think it would cure alot of ills if warmongering politicians who yapped too loudly found themselves sent out with an army and told to put their money where their mouth was, as happened in the ancient world.
Be careful what you wish for, that sounds like a pretty good description of a certain O. b. Laden. :?

I disagree with your statement completely Tarbi... that has naught to do with OB (which is a tampon brand here in the Netherlands) Laden...

it is true politicians in general have no clue about war.

Heike, beautiful, and sad story.. Laudes!

must have been a terrible experience in Nam Ralph....
hope you were able to save at least some of them.

Even though present day generations might see the true extent of lies and the wrongfullness of some wars if not all war, They should NEVER take it out on the soldiers, grunts, and veterans. they should take it out on the people who instigated it all. ie the politicians.

The bottom edit was made with my consent, as I also saw my highly critical attitude towards some present-day politicians could stir up more emotions than desired:

Hmm, when I was picking olives in Apulia we used a zappa (pronounced like "tsapa" as a pruning tool, it's like a little hoe... I wonder what the etymology is...

I guess techincally I'm on the Individual Ready Reserve as I'm in the ROTC; however, according to my instructor, nothing short of an alien invasion (I exagerate) will have cadets mobilized, though I do have a few friends who are cadets and are also in the National Guard and have been mobilized. I haven't yet signed a contract, though, so maybe I'm not part of the Army just yet...

I dont know if you would consider AFJROTC "Real Military Service" but I was a flight commander TSGT with the misfortune of having the most disrepectful, ungrateful, and ignorant flight on this EARTH. Worst of all, my chief and sargent were preachers, hypocrites, and liars and were not true leaders only "positional leaders". Real leaders coach and teach their troops, they build them up, not break them down, they treat their troops like a number 10 and show them that they can do the impossible, they put their troops first, and in the end the troops will take care of their leader. They offered me no support. They tried to brainwash me, they patronized me and alienated me even though they were the ones with IQ's below plant life. That pretty much sums it up. LOL They used to call me IV league michael because of my grades.

George Mason University.

Michael (Anabasis), I too was in the JROTC in high school, but mine was Army. I made it as high as cadet/major and was the S-3 before leaving in the middle of my junior year.

Saul, I think he was just asking about your experience in JROTC, how it went... nobody doubts that you're a cadet at Mason!
